Congratulations to Kevin Shelton Smith and Matt Soja for a great finish at the New York Road Runners 5 mile club champion race! Competing in Skechers GOrun speed, Skechers Performance ambassador Kevin finished the race in 29:45 and Matt was just ahead with a time of 28:36

Congratulations to Skechers Performance athlete Otto Lam who successfully finished the Vermont 100 mile Endurance Run. 308 runners started, but only 205 successfully finished the entire race, including Otto wearing Skechers GOrun Ride. The mud didn’t slow him down, as Otto finished the race in under 24 hours to be awarded a VT100 Belt Buckle. Way to GO!

Now we take Sweden.....

Skechers Performance Division is not officially released in Sweden yet, but of course I try to help my running friends back home in Sweden to fit them in GoRuns. Anders is an old friend who I help a little bit with running/training advise so when he asked about new shoes I asked him to try Skechers GoRun2....2 weeks later running in GoRun2's he had ordered a pair of GoRun Speed from USA as well,. Hopefully in a near future Skechers will release their performance line for my old countrymen.........

Boston 2014 Increased field?

We are about a month away from Boston Marathon registration opening. Still no final decision about the size of the field. All over the world we have noticed a huge desire to run the Boston Marathon 2014. When talking to  snabbafotter (blogger and fast runner) from Sweden, he mention that more and more runners would like to run Boston Marathon 2014. As always runner are nervous and anxious about the qualification. When I first ran 2009, I signed in 2 months after the opening day for registration. Not a problem! Its a different story now, Marathons are selling out like rock concerts and its almost like the marathon organizers are competing, who can sell out the race fastest.
According to Boston Police the field will be increased for 2014 by 9000 runners. Approximately 5600 of those spots are guaranteed for the runners who couldn't finish Boston 2013. B.A.A has still not confirmed this, but they are hopeful and are working with all the involved towns and communities http://www.runnersworld.com/races/baa-on-bigger-2014-marathon-we-are-hopeful.

What does it take to get into Boston 2014? No one knows at this time, its all speculations. You can follow the some forums with runners who discuss this topic. Runners World forum.
My qualification time is 2:59:47 and for my age group you need to complete a 3:15 marathon on a approved course. My time should hopefully be enough.

If you're thinking of running Boston 2014. B.A.A is always the best source. Here you will find all the relevant information about Boston 1014....
Registration:  http://www.baa.org/races/boston-marathon/participant-information/athlete-registration.aspx
Qualification times: http://www.baa.org/races/boston-marathon/participant-information/qualifying.aspx

Hotels: If they increase the field, hotels can be an issues. Prices will most likely go up. I have  already confirmed my stay in Boston. just to be on the safe side. If you re planning to run Boston, start to look around now to secure your stay and for a cheaper price, Prices will go up closer to the race.

Meanwhile you you should also pay some attention to The One Fund. This is your way to support the victims from the Boston 2013 attack.....

For 2014 I hope to be back again in Boston representing Skechers Performance Division! and #teamwickedbonkproof!

New Skechers Athletes...

 Miguel Nuci
The Skechers Performance Division is proud to announce our newest ambassador Miguel Nuci. With a marathon PR of 2:15:34 and half marathon PR of 1:04:57, Miguel is continuing to improve his times and finished 3rd at the Salinas Valley Half Marathon this past weekend. He is also a 3rd place finisher at the California International Marathon and achieved a 15th place finish at the '07 Boston Marathon. Congrats Miguel and welcome to the team!

Joe Shoemaker (what a convenient name)
Skechers Performance welcomes professional triathlete Jake Shoemaker to the team! Jake’s amateur career began with leadership in both cross country and swimming at his Massachusetts high school—captaining both teams to league championships. From there he went to Dartmouth and ran cross country for the Ivy League school. Now in his second year as a pro, Jake has won the Napa Valley Hits triathlon and also finished 13th at the competitive Dallas ITU triathlon. A relentless competitor, Jake is known for his extremely fast swim to bike and bike to run transitions. He pushes himself to dominate across all three disciplines to meet his longer term goals of success at the Rio games in 2016. Jake’s current season is in full swing—after a tough Edmonton World Cup he went on to have the third fastest run split at the St. Louis 5150. Then, he saved some speed for the Aquaphor New York City Triathlon on July 14 with the best swim/run combo of the day finishing 6thoverall. Jake races in Skechers GOrun SPEED and calls it “an awesome racing shoe” that offers a smooth, natural ride and enables his feet to strike and push off the ground the way he wants. Jake is currently in Florida training for the upcoming Under 23 Duathlon World Championships in Ottawa on August 10. Good luck at Champs, Jake!

July 2013

What a brutal month of July! Smoking hot and super humid. This made the running extra hard and you had to plan your runs carefully. I have loaded up on salt tabs and been doing short loops in order to pass by water, brook and a pool and get the chance to cool off Lot of quality and I was able to complete all my scheduled runs. 296 Miles completed in July. Now we move on with the SteamTown Marathon Training, hopefully August offers some cooler weather. Weapon of choice for July has been Skechers GoRun Speed (for all tempo/interval runs) Skechers GoRun2 (Longer workouts) Skechers GoRun Ride (Recovery mood). Also a wear test Skechers GoBionic2.....All shoes has performed fantastic, feet has not been over heated and they have drained my soaked feet from sweat well!
Hot Dog at Flatbrook, water stop!
